Productivity is an important concept to Thanatos. With more and more people to harvest, and many of them being harvested young, especially with the religious wars of today and tomorrow, he would not have time to plan and savor the harvest of his lovely pets unless he was able to take advantage of time-saving procedures and implements. He was thrilled to be able to acquire and use his first typewriters, and soon became an immortal adept at its use. His use of such machinery became so heavy that supplies and new machines soon became in important part of the operational budget of his office, and his office space for the many typewriters in all the different languages he uses became impressive.
